The Housemaid’s Wedding: A Sweet Ending With Just a Dash of Suspense

By Cecilia Belmontes

Introduction: Love, Chaos, and a Tiny Bit of Blood (Kind Of)

Okay, let’s talk about The Housemaid’s Wedding. This was a short story that ties everything together after the wild ride that was The Housemaid and The Housemaid’s Secret. Honestly? I loved that Freida McFadden gave us this bonus story. It’s like the epilogue we didn’t know we needed.

That being said, the suspense in this one? Not really necessary. The cover had a dramatic blood splatter, so I went in expecting some kind of major twist or maybe even a murder. Spoiler alert: nope. No bodies here, unless you count Enzo throwing a punch, which, let’s be real, was still kind of satisfying.

What Worked

Freida filling in the gaps was awesome. I love that she gave us a “where are they now” story. It was nice seeing Millie and Enzo after all the chaos.

Enzo. Just Enzo. He was an absolute gem in this book. No drama, no complaining, just stepping in like the dependable, ride or die partner every thriller heroine deserves.

Real-life wedding chaos: If you’ve ever planned a wedding (or even just been to one), you’ll probably laugh at how everything went wrong. And of course, Millie powered through it like she always does.

What Didn’t Hit the Same

The suspense felt unnecessary: I get that Freida’s known for her twists, but for a story about a wedding, I honestly didn’t need a “thriller-lite” moment. The punch? Sure. But the blood on the cover definitely oversold what actually happened.

Not much depth to the conflict: There’s a husband from one of Millie’s past jobs that pops up, but we don’t dive deep into his story. If you were expecting another intense, layered villain… this ain’t it.

Final Thoughts (Mild Spoilers Below)

This one had none of the jaw dropping craziness we saw in the first two books, but that’s okay. It wasn’t trying to be another full on thriller. It was more about showing us that Millie can have a happy ending. And honestly? She deserves it.

Everything that could go wrong did, but Enzo stayed calm, handled it, and made sure their day still ended in love and laughter. That’s husband material right there.

They got married. They had their baby. And for once, no one ended up dead. Growth!

Final Rating

I’m giving The Housemaid’s Wedding a 9/10.

It’s not a must read for the suspense, but it is a sweet little bow on Millie’s story. And if you’ve followed her journey this far, it’s definitely worth the quick read.

Let’s Talk About It

Did The Housemaid’s Wedding wrap things up the way you hoped?

Were you also expecting something darker from the cover?

And can we all agree Enzo is the MVP of this whole series?

Drop your thoughts in the comments, I’m all ears!
